William Clarence Bonner, Sr.

William Clarence Bonner, Sr., 74, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 10, 2015, at Winchester Terrace Nursing Home. He was born July 24, 1941, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late John and Josephine (Vault) Bonner.

Billy attended Mansfield City Schools and retired from Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company. He loved fishing and was known to family as friends as a great cook. Spending time with them was his favorite pastime. Billy was a member of the Mitchell Chapel AME.

He is survived by one child, Cassandra Bonner Carter and Kevin Carter; nine grandchildren; Tamika Bonner, Rachieka Winchester, Christine (Frank) Douglas, Kevin Carter, Jr., Lee Shonda Carter, Nikitia Carter, LeAunte’ Carter, Dre’An Bonner and Casey Bonner; five step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Bonner of Toledo, OH; a sister, Betty (Sonny) Henderson of CA; a brother, Glenn (Mildred) Bonner of VA; a sister-in-law, Regina Walton; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Mattie Franklin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christine (Walton) Bonner; son, William Bonner, Jr.; daughter, Bessie Bonner; brother, John Bonner, Jr.; and sister, Peggy Austin.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. in Oasis of Love Church, 190 Chester Avenue, Mansfield followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. Pastor Carl J. Curry of New Mt. Olive Baptist Church will conduct the service. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.

The family will receive friends at the home of Cassandra and Kevin Carter on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16 from 6-8 p.m.
