Willard C. Arnold, 78, of Mansfield, passed away Monday, Nov. 26, 2018 at his residence.
Born June 4, 1940 in Oakland, Maryland, he was the son of Nay T. and Merrill E. (Cooper) Arnold.
Willard retired from General Motors following 30-plus years of service and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed gardening and reading. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed fishing at the lake and was a very handy man who made his own fishing lures as well as other items. Willard was a very determined person who loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Edna (Harbaugh) Arnold; three sons, Craig (Linda) Arnold, John Arnold and Mark (Shelly) Arnold, all of Mansfield; five granddaughters, Crystal (Phillip) Williams, of Mansfield, Tina (Jonathan) Matheny, of Centerville, Brandy Arnold, of Medina, Ambur Arnold, of Mansfield, and Allyson Arnold, of Mansfield; four great grandchildren, Kingston Williams, Alice Williams, Olivia Williams, William Matheny and one on the way, Owen Matheny; a brother, Richard (Helen) Arnold, of Mt. Gilead; a sister-in-law, Betty Wallace, of Dallas, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other dear relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Arnold; a sister, Allene Schonauer; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Harbaugh.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield. A private graveside service will be held for the family.
