Wayne “Bud” Kent, 79, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 7, 2015. He was born May 13, 1935 in Harrison County, Ohio and had been a lifelong resident of Mansfield. Bud was graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1953, and married Carol Schwan Kent in 1956.

He was a devoted member of the First Congregational Church, Westbrook Country Club, and Mansfield Rotary Club.

Bud and his wife Carol were long time owners of Swan Cleaners prior to their retirement in 2007. Bud will be remembered by his love of gardening, fishing, Cleveland and OSU sports, golf and his loyalty to friends and devotion to his family.

Bud is survived by his daughter Judie “Kent” Housel (Robert ) of Sylvania; son Jeff Kent (Connie Valot) of Wooster; grandchildren Courtney Kent of Brook Park, Kassie Kent and Nicole Kent both of Mansfield, Patrick (Melissa) Housel of Morristown, NJ, Sean (Maria) Housel of Lakewood; and great grandchildren Avery and Grant Housel of Morristown, NJ. Bud is also survived by his brothers Richard (Nancy) Kent of Galion and Larry Kent of Michigan along with an extended family including sister-in-law Judy Schwan Whitney (Don) Harris of Bardstown, KY, and his mother-in-law Marilou Burgess Schwan of Mansfield. He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy “Pete” Kent (1974) and Rena Kent (2004), and his wife Carol Schwan Kent (2012).

The Kent family will receive friends Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A service celebrating the life of Bud Kent will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in First Congregational Church, 640 Millsboro Road, with the Rev. Bruce Haapalainen and Pastor Ron Winters officiating. Inurnment in the First Congregational Church Chapel columbarium will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to OhioHealth MedCentral Hospice. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at MedCentral Hospital and Dr. Viswanathan for their compassionate care given to Bud.
