Wayne A. Henry, 87, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, June 27, 2016.
Wayne was born on Nov. 6, 1928, in Lucas, to Ora A. and Mary E. (Wilson) Henry. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War. Wayne retired after 29 years, from Columbia Gas.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, and belonged to many organizations, including the Masonic Venus Lodge #152, R. C. Scottish Rite, Baku Grotto, American Legion Post #16, VFW # 9943, Sons of Herman, Korean Veteran’s Association, 40 & 8, Amvets, and Joint Veterans Burial Squad (retired). He was a Valley of Canton 32nd Degree Mason.
He married Carol (Beach) Henry on June 6, 1954, and she survives him. He is also survived by three children, Michael E. (Shiela) Henry, Mark W. (Elfriede) Henry, and Marchell C. Ellis; eight grandchildren; one great-grand; and one sister, Mary Ellen Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roy W. Henry and Robert J. Henry; and a sister, Cora Belle Motson.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016, at St John’s United Church of Christ, 68, Park Ave. East, Mansfield, Ohio 44902, with Pastor Jared Ruark officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Memorial Park with full Military Honors performed by R.C. Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail.
