Wanda R. (Owens) Van Riper, 74, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, following a lengthy illness.

Wanda was born on May 22, 1941, in Mansfield, to Don Owens and Thelma I. (Milligan) Owens Williams. She married Jim Van Riper on June 17, 1967, and he survives her.

She was involved with the Salvation Army. Wanda loved her family, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping and bowling.

Along with her husband Jim, she is survived by five children, Sherry (Jay) Collins, of Lexington, South Carolina, Rodney (Jill) Schmidt, of Indiana, Christine (Jeff) Young, of Lucas, and Robert (Tammy) Van Riper, and Catherine Van Riper, both of Mansfield; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Brittney, James, Mike, Terri, Sam, and Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler, Alexis, and Jordan; and one sister, JoAnn (Bob) Sherman, of Mansfield.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings, Grover Owens, Russell Owens, and Lucy Goettl.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, with Salvation Army Major Jaqueline Todhunter, Retired, officiating. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery.
