Steven Alan "Steve" Einselen, 69, of Ontario, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, January 15, 2021, at home.
Steve was born November 10, 1951, in Peru, Indiana, to John Harold and Carolyn Joan (Agness) Einselen, and grew up on the family farm. He graduated in 1970 from Southwood High School in Wabash, Indiana, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Purdue University in 1974 and a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Akron in 1980.
Soon after moving to Ohio for employment, Steve met his future wife, Kathy Williams, at a Bible study. They dated briefly and remained friends even as Kathy moved to South America. They rekindled their relationship when she returned to the States in the late '80s and were married January 14, 1989, in Cuyahoga Falls.
A licensed professional engineer, Steve spent much of his career in municipal work including for the city of Ontario. He later became a licensed real estate agent with Haring Realty and worked at Walmart as an associate before retirement. He was involved in various leadership and service roles at Westwood Alliance Church in Ontario and other volunteer work. He was a diligent prayer warrior for his local body of Christ and especially enjoyed the men’s group of the church.
Steve raised three children "in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." They inherited wisdom, diligence, a love of learning and a strong sense of humor from their father -- qualities more valuable than any worldly goods.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kathy, and their children, Sarah (Matthew) McGhee of Gainesville, Texas; Abby Einselen of Mansfield, Ohio; and Jonathan Einselen of the residence. He is also survived by brother Ken (Cindy) Einselen of Amboy, Indiana; sister Karen (John) Troutman of Galveston, Indiana; one granddaughter, Elizabeth McGhee; and 14 nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
