Shirley J. Tesso, 77, lifelong resident of Crestline, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield.
Shirley was born in Crestline, on Sept. 29, 1939. She married Nicholas J. Tesso on Feb. 11, 1963 and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2003.
Shirley was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline and the VFW Post 2920, Crestline. In addition to raising four children, Shirley worked at the YMCA and McDonald’s, and volunteered for many years at St. Joseph Catholic School in Crestline. Shirley will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, devoted grandmother, sister, and friend. She was very proud of her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Doug Howard, of Texas, and Tony Tesso, of Crestline; her stepson, John and Kaylene Tesso, of Crestline; her grandchildren, Dustin Tesso, Mike Tesso, Heather Mayer, and her daughters four children; her brothers, Fred Lauer, of Maryland, and Leroy Lauer, of Port Clinton; and her two good friends, Anis Leiss and Mary Prater.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Nick Tesso; her daughter, Deborah Howard; her son, Steve Tesso; her infant son, Vincent Tesso; her stepson, Jim Tesso; her brother, Mark Allen; and her sister, Janet Walker.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Crestline, with Rev. Christopher Bohnsack, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Crestline.
