Shirley A. Cook, 84, of Galion, died Monday, December 21, 2015 at, Signature Health Care after declining health since June.
Shirley was born in Crestline, on July 27, 1931 to the late Ross and Myrtle (Davis) Gledhill. She married Willlmond S. "Bill" Cook on August, 19, 1955 and he survives her.
Shirley was formerly a long time member of First Lutheran Church, Galion and currently a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline. She was a graduate of North Robinson High School, class of 1949 and a graduate of Bluffton College. Shirley taught elementary music and valued her teaching profession of 33 years. She was choir director at First Lutheran Church for 52 years. She was Music Director for many many years. She taught Sunday school and taught at Leesville Elementary, Sulpher Springs and Whetstone Elementary Schools. She also gave piano lessons in her home.
In addition to her husband Bill, Shirley is survived by her daughter Lisa A. (Barry) Gritton, Cincinnati, four grandchildren, Brody L. Cook, Columbus, Mitchell L. Cook, Columbus, Carly Gritton and Carson Gritton, both of Cincinnati, and her daughter-in-law Jodi L. Cook, Bucyrus.
She was preceded in death by her son, Brian L. Cook, two brothers, Elwood and Howard Gledhill and her sister Marilouise Yaussy.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 4–7 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
