Shirley M. Bitler, 79, of Galion, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014 at Signature Healthcare, Galion, after battling with dementia.

Shirley was born in Rarden, on Aug. 3, 1935 to the late Claude O. and Ida F. (Hoffer) Lanthorne.  She married Dwight N. Bitler on May 25, 1966 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1986.

She attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Blooming Grove and was an avid Bible reader.  She loved all animals but especially cats. 

She is survived by her two daughters Debbie & Steve Thoman, Galion, Tammy & Mike Strickland, Caledonia, her four grandchildren Valencia Jordan, Columbus, Dustin Jordan, GA, Megan Thoman, Columbus, Kristina Thoman, Galion and her two great-grandchildren Jazmine and Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield.
