Sharon L. ”Sherri” (Dye) Prout, 69, Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sherri was born in Galion on Nov. 30, 1947 to the late Donald C. and Marjorie (Ryon) Dye. Raised in Salem, OR, Serri graduated from Lincoln S.E. High School, Lincoln, NE in 1966. She married the love of her life, Willis G. Prout on Nov., 8, 1969 and he survives her.

Sherri retired from Therm-O-Disc, Inc. after 28 years of service where many friendships blossomed. She was active in the American Heart Association and also the March of Dimes. Sherri was an especially thoughtful person and made sure everyone was thought of, whether by sending cards or making cookies.

She never missed an opportunity to show others she cared and that they mattered to her. She emulated grace, while living life to the fullest, always positive, always smiling and never complaining. Her presence brought peace to those around her, as her motto was “everything always works out”. Sherri was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Willis G. Prout, daughter Jennifer (Josh) Hockman, grandchildren, Jada Lynn and Madeline Sherri Hockman, brothers, Bob Dye, of Hurst, Texas, and Donald C. (Dr. Jane Dye), of Lake Worth, Florida, brother and special sister-in-law William and Rhoda Prout, of Overland Park, Kansas, and her nieces Kim Prout-Lidgett, Kelsey Peterson, Krista Meinheit and Kerry Prout, of Kansas and Missouri, and her many great nieces and nephews. 

Preceding her in death was her son, Ryan G. Prout, mother Marjorie Dye and father Donald Dye and mother-in-law, Naomi Prout.

The family would like to thank Ohio Health Hospice for their loving care. 

Friends may call Friday, April 28, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home on Saturday, April 29, 2017,at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to March of Dimes in care of the funeral home.
