Ruth Naomi Cotsamire, 85, of Galion died peacefully Sunday, June 8, 2014 surrounded by family at her daughter’s home where she and her husband of 66 years have resided for the past two and one-half years.

Ruth was born July 7, 1928, at home near Chatfield, to Mervin and Naomi (Hoss) Brown. She is survived by husband Carl and daughters Linda (John) Gulick of Bucyrus and Paula (David) Dey of Kissimmee, Florida.

Also surviving are grandchildren Mandy (Eric) Kent of Galion, Brandon Dey of Marion, Anna (Eric) Yoder of Napoleon and Mariah (Roger) Hobbs of Panama City, Florida; great-grandchildren Cooper, Carly and Colby Kent and Benjamin and Vincent Hobbs; brother Richard (Joyce) Brown and sister Donna Morton, both of Bucyrus.

In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by sisters Martha (Albert) Leuthold and Lula (Kenneth) Hawk; brother-in-law Jim Morton and infant sister Mary Brown.

Ruth was an active member of First United Church of Christ in Galion and an associate member of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach, Florida where she and Carl lived for twenty-two years. She taught Sunday school, belonged to the Friendship Circle at church, was a Girl Scout leader and enjoyed western square dancing. She helped with Meals on Wheels in Ohio and Florida and was a valued staff member at Renschville Elementary School in Galion for 10 years where she was a teacher’s aide, until 1978 when she and Carl moved to Florida. Ruth had previously worked at Galion All Steel.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 S. Market St., Galion. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 13 at First United Church of Christ, 248 Harding Way West, Galion with Rev. Katherine Beckett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
