Russ Hamlin

Russ A. Hamlin, age 60, of Mansfield passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 in his home following a sudden illness.

He was born September 26, 1954 to William and Jeanette (Flowers) Hamlin and graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1972.

A U.S. Navy Veteran, Russ served five years specializing as a teletype repairman and in automated communications. He was honorably discharged in 1982.

It was during his military service Russ received much expertise in telecommunications. He was currently employed at Tyler Technologies surveying properties for several area counties for tax purposes.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 26 and VFW Post 3494.

A professional sports fan, Russ enjoyed the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. He also followed the Buckeyes faithfully. He was also an avid fisherman.

Russ is survived by two children Marjory and Andrew Hamlin in South Carolina, his father William Hamlin of Mansfield, a sister and brother-in-law Pam and Ed Craft of Mansfield, a half sister Wanda Chambers in Alabama, cousin Michelle and Randy Murray of Mansfield, a good family friend Fritz and Anna Horton and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Hamlin in 2005.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Military honors conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail will follow on the grounds of the funeral home.

Memorial contributions to AMVETS Post 26 may be made at the funeral home.
