Robert Ray Reamsnider

Robert Ray Reamsnider, 85, of Butler, Ohio passed away in his home Saturday morning, September 16, 2017 with his wife by his side.

He was born June 12, 1932 in Mansfield, Ohio the son of Fred Sr. and Catherine (Gaul) Reamsnider and remained a lifelong area resident.

Robert loved farming and gardening. He operated a portable saw mill with his uncle Ray. Bob worked for Kokosing Construction for 26 years, retiring in 1995 and another 10 years part-time. He received operator of the year award in 1977.

He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church since Aug. 2 1942 and recently a member of the North Liberty United Methodist Church.

He received the 1998 Outstanding Senior Citizen of the year for Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging for having done much work on the Butler Senior Citizen building. Bob was Butler’s Veteran of the year in 2007.

Bob, a Sergeant, served a 15-month tour with the 45th parallel, Eighth Army Division in Korea from 1952-1954.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ed on Aug. 20, 1960.

He is survived by his wife Lois (McKee) Reamsnider, whom he married Aug. 7, 1965, two sons and daughters-in-law Jeff (Sharon) of Fredericktown and David (Marcy) of Butler; three brothers Dick (Joyce) of Bellville, Bill of Mansfield, and Fred, Jr. (Sharon) of Springfield, MO; two sisters Martha Riter and Esther Turner both of Butler. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Friends may call the hour prior to the funeral service. Pastors Ruth Douglas and Ken Kinley will officiate. Burial with military honors conducted by American Legion Post #535 will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Butler- Clear Fork Adult Center or Hospice of Knox County may be made through the funeral home.
