Richard F. “Dick” Dewalt, Sr., 83, of Mansfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, following a brief illness.
Dick was born on August 15, 1931, in Galion, to Lester H. and Lenora M. (Weldon) Dewalt Stevens. He worked for many years at Dominion Electric, and retired after 26 years from MANCI. Dick loved to spend time with his family, and was known for his skill at playing chess. He was an avid card player and played for many tournaments at various local clubs, and enjoyed fishing, hunting rabbits, and spending time on his pontoon boat. On January 22, 1972, he married the love of his life, Jacquelyn A. (Conley) Dewalt, and she survives him.
Along with Jacquelyn, he is survived by five children, Richard (Irene) Dewalt Jr. and Debora (Robert) Carpenter both of Galion, Robert (Judy) Dewalt of Bucyrus, Betty (Tom)Teetrick of Lake Galion, and Howard (Bet) Dewalt of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren, Shawn, Layla, Little Rich, Bill, Sonja, Trudy, Heather, April, Mandy, Rob, Jay, Dee, and David; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lester H. (Donna) Dewalt, and Walter Stevens, both of Galion; one sister, Cecile (Larry) Casto of Interlachen, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Hester and Betty; and two brothers, Ronald and Donald.
Calling hours will be from 4 -8 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, 1106 Park Ave. East. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Windsor Cemetery.
