Richard A. “Dick” Carr

Richard A. Carr, was aware that opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, and therefore, most people don't recognize them. His life’s hard work provided opportunities for his family, of which they are eternally grateful. His working hands now at rest, Richard Carr passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 in Colonial Manor Health Care Center following a long illness. He was 72.

He was born May 1, 1942 to Dale and Esther (Seitz) Carr and remained a lifelong Richland County resident living in Lucas and more recently Butler. On November 26, 1963 he married Beverly Kline who preceded him in death in 2005.

A dedicated provider, Dick worked for Kokosing as a large equipment operator for over 25 years, retiring in 2003 to care for Beverly when she became ill.

An outdoorsman, Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time.

He is survived by his children and their spouses Donald and Carol Vulgamore of Ashland Shari and Ron Leech of Butler, Lois Temple of Butler, and Richard, Jr. and Loretta Carr of Ashland; seven grandchildren Nathan Vulgamore, Ryan Vulgamore, Allen Leech, Nicole Temple, Bryan Carr, Aaron Leech and Macy Carr, eight great grandchildren Keegan, Tristan, Rylie, Keaton, Kelsea, Nicholas, Jace and Ellah; four siblings and their spouses Rex and Joanne Stull of Butler, Marlene Richardson of Bainbridge, Paul “Bud” and Diane Carr of Butler, and Keith “Whitey” and Mary Carr of Butler; a sister-in-law Sharon Carr of Butler, and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, and wife he was preceded in death by a son Mitchell R. Carr, great granddaughter Piper and a brother Larry Dean Carr.

Friends may call Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 2-5 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. Friends may also call the hour prior to the funeral service. Pastor Ken Kinley will officiate and burial will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.
