Pete Reich, 63, of Mansfield passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his family after a 3 year courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Oct. 6, 1953 in Leamington, Canada and was the son of Ferdinand and Anneliese (Stanze) Reich. Pete is survived by his loving wife of nearly 37 years, Deborah (Dehmel) Reich, whom he married on May 31, 1980.

Pete was a 1973 graduate of Mansfield Senior High School and operated Reich Imported Cars, with his father until taking over the business upon his father’s retirement. Career changes took Pete from the automotive industry into construction and he later worked for Mansfield Cement Flooring and lastly with Moritz Concrete in Mansfield. 

Pete was a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz and Owls Club of Mansfield. Pete was known as a brilliant mechanic and handyman. He previously raced cars with the Sports Car Club of America and enjoyed skiing, tinkering on motors, flying remote control planes and singing karaoke.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Stephan (Jessica) Reich; daughter Kristi (Ryan) Kiley; granddaughter Olivia Kiley; mother Anneliese Reich all of Mansfield and brother Rolf (Kay) Reich of Tipp City. 

Pete is preceded in death by his father Ferdinand Reich.

Pete’s family will receive friends, Monday, May 15, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Finefrock Chapel of the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, 350 Marion Ave. Mansfield, Ohio 44903. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities in care of the funeral home.
