Novelda Adams

Novelda E. (Rhodes) Adams, age 96, resident of Shelby passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 in Bellevue Care Center, Bellevue, Ohio.

Born June 6, 1918 in Ada, Ohio to Elmer and Mina (Stober) Rhodes, she was a 1936 graduate of Ada High School. Shortly thereafter she moved to Shelby with her family. On June 5, 1938 she married William Samuel Adams. Novelda worked as an office receptionist for the late Dr. Norman Straw of Shelby for many years.

Survivors include her son, W. Terry (Lenora) Adams of Bellevue; granddaughter, Caren (Roger) Spears of Mt. Vernon; two great-grandchildren, Amanda (Major Daniel) Wassmuth of Las Vegas, NV, and Derek Adams of Wichita, KS; her great-great-granddaughter, Bella Mae Wassmuth; one sister, Veloice (L.H) Washburn of Dillsburg, PA; step-brother, Stanley Homerick of Castalia, OH; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Joyce) Adams of Shelby, several nieces and nephews of Shelby and Dillsburg, PA and several relatives of Ada/Lima, Ohio. 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Adams in 1997; brother, Darrell (Mary Wagner) Rhodes, his step-mother, Thelma (Homerick) Rhodes; nephew, Jamie Washburn and grandson, David Adams.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Pastor Juli Lejman-Guy, of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bellevue, will officiate with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 9- 11 a.m.
