Naomi “Grandma Darling” M. Keyes,89, Galion, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion, after an extended illness.

Naomi was born in Galion, on November 27, 1925 to the late John and Lillian (Dumham) Girton. Naomi married Glen E. Goodwin in November 1944,and out of that reunion came their two children John and Nancy Goodwin. Glen passed away April 6, 2008. Charles Keyes then married the three of them, Naomi, John and Nancy on July 14, 1968 and he survives her.

Naomi was a Galion High School graduate class of 1944. She was employed by Galion Community Hospital, Galion Elks #1191, Dr. Manthey’s office and Hugh Place Insurance. Naomi was a member of the Galion Elks Emblem Club #356 and Galion Twig Auxiliary #2. Naomi was the treasurer for the New Shop (Twigs) for several years, and the secretary and treasurer of the Galion Friendly Homemakers, President of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Golden Age Galion President and served on the board. Naomi was a member of Galion Church of Christ, Galion and held numerous positions in the church.

She was a member of the Ladies Guild and choir at church. She loved being the choir director and one of her passions was singing. Naomi was a wonderful cook and one of her best dishes was her homemade beef and noodles and peanut clusters. Naomi enjoyed having her family over at the holidays. One of the grandchildren’s best memories of “Grandma Darling” was when she would get all of the grandkids together and take them to the park at the same time during the summer.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her son John & Debbie Goodwin of Ontario, her daughter Nancy & Lloyd Fulton of Crestline, and her sister Johnetta Bodkins of Galion. six grandchildren, Charles and Erica Goodwin, Sheri Goodwin, John Gray (Jessica Slusher), Timothy and Jen Gray, Andrew Michael Gray (Heather Meadows), and Dustin and Kirsten Gray. Eleven great-grandchildren, McKayla Goodwin, Mason Goodwin, Bethany Allen, Emily Kilgore, Trevor Gray, Hunter Gray, Allen Gray, Trent Gray, Caleb Gray, Weston Gray and Lillian Gray, one great-great grandson Jayden Allen, step grandchildren Greg (Tammy) Fraley, Chad (Katie) Fraley, Monica Dees and Lloyd Fulton III, step great grandchildren Austin Fraley, Dylan Fraley, Brandi Williams, Aaron Dees.

She was preceded in death by her daughter- in-law Charlotte Goodwin and son-in-law Wayne Gray her two brothers, Louis and Willard Girton and one sister Roselea Danner Fischer.

Friends may call Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 with Pastor Joseph Smith and Denny Easterday officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline.
