Monica L. Owens, 38, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015.
Monica was born on March 18, 1977, in Mansfield, to Victor “Monty” and Connie (Radcliffe) Owens. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Administrative Social Work from The Ohio State University, was an LISW, and was employed as a counselor at Serenity Concepts, and was formerly employed as a supervisor at Mary Haven in Columbus. Monica was a devoted mother, and had a very special bond with her daughter, Veda. She had a respect for all human life, and was also an animal lover, and supported their rights as well. She enjoyed hiking, being outside, eating healthy, raising vegetable and flower gardens, and watching funny movies. Monica was a musician, and enjoyed playing her guitar, and listening to music, especially Social Distortion and Smashing Pumpkins.
Along with her parents, Monty and Connie Owens of Mansfield, she is survived by her daughter, Veda Boor; her feline Buddy and yellow lab, Ginger, all of Columbus; her brother, Brent (Charmin) Owens of Mansfield; and her niece, Olivia Owens.
Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at Crossroads Community Church, 1188 Park Ave West, Mansfield.
