Michael T. “Mike” McCaskey, 79, of Loudonville died Saturday afternoon, May 20, 2017 in Brethren Care Center of Ashland after an extended illness.

Mike was born May 21, 1937 in Washington Township, Holmes County and was the son of the late Alfred and Ruth Shoemaker McCaskey. He was a 1956 graduate of Loudonville High School and was a proud member of the 1955 Redbird football team.

He lived all of his life in the Loudonville area and was a 45-year employee of Mansfield Plumbing Products, retiring in 2001. Mike was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Loudon Post #257 American Legion. He was an avid Loudonville High School sports fan but gained the most pride and pleasure in being a grandfather and watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other activities.

Mike is survived by two sons: Mike (Cassandra) McCaskey, of Perrysville, and Shayne (Michelle) McCaskey, of Loudonville; two daughters: Kelly (John) Patton, of rural Ashland, and Kerry (James) Wood, of Olympia, Washington; eight grandchildren: Michael, Kenny, and Bryce McCaskey, Rebeccah Lewis, Eric and Tyler McCaskey, Bradley (Megan) Patton, and Jack Wood; and three great-grandchildren: Addysen Patton, Evan and Anthony Lewis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter: Hannah Mae McCaskey; three brothers: Noel, Jules, and Pat McCaskey; and four sisters: Joan McCaskey, Ruth “Mickey” Ferris, Nancy Spreng, and Polly Dessenberg. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, at 11 a.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville with Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial with military honors by the American Legion and VFW will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.
