Mickey Moore didn’t need to be flawless to be a great father. The commitment he made to his daughter, Kennedy, was a precious responsibility. Through his ups and downs, what always remained was his love for family, good heart, caring spirit, and great smile.

Mickey passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 22, 2017. He was 39.

Born Michael James Moore April 4, 1978, in Mansfield to Art and Mary (Pickens) Moore, he graduated from Ontario High School in 1996, where he played varsity baseball.

ASE Certified, Mickey was a highly-regarded auto mechanic, working most recently with Stan’s Auto Service in Akron. He was previously the proud owner of Mickey’s Quality Auto.

Just like his Dad, Mickey was a drag racing driver and enthusiast, and a member of the National Hot Rod Association.

He is survived by his daughter Kennedy Moore; his mother Mary Moore, of Crestline; a brother Chris (Brian Petty) Leedy, of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister Macy (Erik) Flett, of Bokeelia, Florida; his maternal grandmother Irene Pickens, of Sanford, Florida; and a large extended family including aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mickey was preceded in death by his father Art Moore; his paternal grandparents Rosetta and Jim Moore; and his maternal grandfather Gene Pickens Sr.

The Moore family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A service celebrating Mickey’s life will follow at 2 p.m. led by his cousin, Pastor Jon Pickens. Interment will be at Lexington Cemetery.
