Merle R. Teetrick

Merle R. Teetrick, 90, of Galion, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017 at Galion Pointe Nursing Home.

Merle was born in Galion on July 18, 1926 to the late Calvin C. and Gladys E. (Young) Teetrick. He married Violet J. Love on Aug. 27, 1949 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 1994.

He was retired from Baja Boats in Bucyrus and was formerly employed for 28 years at North Electric in Galion. Merle was a member of Windfall Emanuel United Church of Christ, a member of the Galion Moose Lodge #303 and was past President of the Lake Galion Club.

Merle enjoyed hunting, especially rabbits, and fishing for bass or whatever would bite. He loved going to his parents’ cabins at Pine Lodge Camp in Michigan.

He is survived by his children, Angela (LeRoy) Hoffman, of Leesville, Dawn (Bill) Kelm, of Tucson, Arizona, Thomas (Betty) Teetrick, of Lake Galion, Gerald (Charlotte) Teetrick, of Ontario, Tim (Dawn) Teetrick, of Denham Springs, Louisianna, and Candace (Brian) Baird, of Delta; his 13 grandchildren, Denise (fiancé-Brad Schafer) Von Der Hofen, Dana Dixon, Jerry Sturgill Jr. (fiancé Sherry Rigby), Michelle Sturgill, Mandy Hudgens, Bryan (Sarah) Adkins, Chad (Tomi) Teetrick, Travis (Courtney Rizzo) Teetrick, Cody Teetrick, Caitlyn Teetrick, Tiffany Baird, Heather Baird, and Jessica Baird, 13 great-grandchildren, Emma, Kelsey, Kori, Bailey, Travis, Monay, Devan, Jade, Mikaelia, Cambyr, Kayleigh, Anavay, Jamison, Elizabeth; one great-great-granddaughter, Olivia; and his brother, Wayne Teetrick.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Donalene Ehrman.

Friends may call Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Dreama Caudill and Rev. Loyd Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Galion Pointe in care of the funeral home.
