McKinley E. ”Ken” Dyer, 80, of Galion, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at Bucyrus Community Hospital, Bucyrus.

Ken was born in Lewis County, KY on October 12, 1934 to the late W. Leonard and Bessie (Bond) Dyer.Ā  He married Dorothy M. Vaughan on June 21, 1986 andĀ she survives him.

He was the owner of the former Kenā€™s Body Shop, Mansfield and the Sulphur Springs Body Shop where he worked as an auto body mechanic and also did work for other dealerships.Ā  In his earlier years, Ken was employed by Lone Pine Dairy, Bucyrus, Tecumseh, Marion, B&E Taxi, Bucyrus, Shunk Manufacturing, Bucyrus and he had recently drove cars for Whiteyā€™s in Mansfield.Ā  At home as a young man he was also a farmer.Ā  He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a lifetime member of Amvets Post #27, Bucyrus.Ā  Ken enjoyed golfing at New Winchester Golf Course, restoring cars, playing poker and other cards.Ā  He was a Nascar fan, enjoyed bowling, fishing, horseshoes, and always played to win.Ā  Ken was a people person and loved spending time with his family.Ā 

He is survived by his daughter Teresa (Edward) Berg, Wayne, his son Chris ā€œDuffā€ (Bonita) Dyer, Bucyrus, his stepson Mitchell (Bich) Hines, San Jose, CA, his two stepdaughters Paula (Donald) McKee, Bucyrus and Loretta Jimenez, Shelby; his eleven grandchildren Adrian (Suzie) Dyer, Brian Berg, Hilary Berg, Alesha (Craig) Brophy, Joshua Dyer, Jesse Dyer, James McKee, Joseph McKee, Anna Jimenez, Olivia Jimenez and Tony Jimenez, his eight great grandchildren Aedan Brophy, Ena Brophy, Maverick Dyer, Annabelle Dyer, Tristin Dyer, Chrisha Dyer, William McKee and Allyssa McKee, his sisters Ruby Thomas, KY, Venus Butler, Galion, Audrey Starlin, Bucyrus, Linda (John) Banks, Bucyrus and Janet Hensley, Flatwoods, KY, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a multitude of friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Beverly Jill Dyer, his granddaughter Delilah Berg and his great grandson Ethan McKee.

Friends may callĀ Wednesday, January 14, 2015 from 1-3 p.m. andĀ 6-8 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion.Ā  Funeral services will be held atĀ 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 15Ā at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Lyle Arnett officiating.Ā  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion where Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps and the Galion/Crestline Area Veterans Organizations.
