Maxine E. Karle, 77, of Galion, went to be with the angels peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at her home in Galion after an extended illness.
Maxine was born in Marion on Jan. 9, 1940 to the late Charles and Ruth (Cahill) Ott. She married David F. Karle on Feb. 15, 1959 and he survives her. They met at Kelley’s Island and have been married and in love for 58 years.
Maxine came to Galion in 1950 from Caledonia. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Galion. She graduated from Galion High School in 1958. Maxine was a customer service representative for Ohio Job and Family Services in Galion, Marion and Bucyrus and retired in 2000.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Photorama where her husband was co-owner. Maxine loved angels, enjoyed baking and was in a Bridge Club. Maxine loved her grandchildren and was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She always had a story for everyone.
She is survived by her children, Cheri and Richard Seckel, Galion, Lauri and Mitch Schifer, Galion, five grandchildren, Eric Seckel, Brian and Jenna Seckel, Jamie and Joshua Atkinson, Joseph Andrews, Tyler Harris, four great-grandchildren, Tyson, Kylah, Carter, Blaine, her sister, Mary Helen Whitely, Bellevue and her American Eskimo dog, Cheyenne.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother James Ott, and infant sister Carolyn Ott.
Friends may call on Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, Dec. 26 at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Minister Tim Nowlin officiating. Burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery, Caledonia.
