Mary Louise Carpenter

A go-getter: a person who works very hard and who wants very much to succeed. This definition simply begins to capture who Mary was. Not one to sleep in she could be found up early starting her morning with a walk. This is just one of many things that made Mary who she was.

Mary Louise Carpenter passed away Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 in her home in Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by family. She was 83.

She was born Nov. 16, 1932 to parents Earl & Lizetta (Ullom) Warrick in St. Clairsville. Mary graduated High School from Barnesville in 1951.

On July 21, 1951, she married Irvin Carpenter and they shared 51 wonderful years of marriage until he passed away in March 2003. Now they are together again.

Mary worked at Therm-O-Disc, where she worked for over 25 years until retiring.

She was a member of Thomas Edison Congregational Church in Fort Myers and is now home with the Lord.

Mary had many skills in her repertoire. She was a great baker, having family favorites like her cutout cookies. She had the uncanny ability to get a stain out of anything! She simply had a knack for taking care of the laundry She enjoyed spending time at the Butler Adult Center playing games like dominoes and euchre. But above all else, Mary cherished her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law Debbie and Jim Riddle and Bonnie Bittinger, all of Butler and Cindy and Dale Pearson, of Columbia, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and their spouses Lisa Shaffer and Dan Benjamin, of Fort Myers, Florida, Jeremy and Erin Riddle, of Butler, Nicole and Joe McGregor, of Butler, Chase and Laura Riddle, of Butler, Matt and Alexandra Kearney, of Bronx, New York, Shaun Bittinger, of Butler, Brice and Tiffany Bittinger of Butler; granddaughter-in-law Betsy Shaffer; great grandchildren Jake Ward, Kaden Riddle, Bailee Riddle, Landon Shaffer, Brody McGregor, AJ McGregor, Chance McGregor, Teegan Riddle, Tenley Riddle, Kace Riddle and Peyton Grace Kearney; brother Donald Warrick; brother-in-law Neil and Barbara Carpenter, of Mt. Vernon; sister-in-law Nora and Gene Mollihan, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; grandson John Paul Shaffer; siblings Lester, Jim, Glen, Jerry, Don, Dale, Norman, Beulah, Cedora and Margaret.

The Carpenter family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Mary’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at North Bend Church of the Brethren, 1787 Snyder Rd., Butler, beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Patrick Bailey will officiate.
