Marlyce LaMoine Jones, 79, of Lucas, died Sunday, July 26, 2015 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield.

Marlyce was born in Minnewaukan, ND on January 9, 1936 to the late Edfrey N. and Helen M. (Jacobson) Osland. She married George Thomas Jones on August, 4, 1956 and he survives her.

Marlyce has lived in the area since 2003 coming from Yorba Linda, CA. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Navy. She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1960. Her first teaching position was in Appalachia. Her grandchildren were a very important part of her life. She was a defender of those who couldnā€™t defend or protect themselves. An ardent supporter of animal rights, she would see that injured wildlife were given care to nurse them back to health. She defended the rights of children.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Andrea and Benjamin Davis, Alto, NM, her son, Stephen Jones, North Liberty, IA, four grandchildren, Cole Thomas Davis, Jared Ryan Davis, Alexa MaLynn Davis, Connor Thomas Jones, and her brother, Dennis Osland, Eureka, CA.

She was preceded in death by her brother Norman Edfrey Osland.

Services for Marlyce LaMoine Jones will be announced at a later date.
