Margery Gledhill

Margery L. ''Marge'' Gledhill, 91, of Galion, died Friday, December 16, 2016 at Marion General Hospital, Marion. She is now in God’s loving arms.

She was born in Galion, on December 6, 1925 to the late Ralph H. and Cleo M. (Sherer) Worden.

She was a graduate of North Robinson High School with the class of 1943 and Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing, September 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Howard Loren Gledhill on December 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2001. The marriage took place at First Lutheran Church in Galion with Rev. Herbert Garnes, Jr. officiating at the double ring ceremony. They settled in a farm home on Beck Rd. that had been the home of her grandparents, James and Margery (Robertson) Worden, later building their home on State Route 30, Lincoln Highway. They had two daughters, Linda Anne (Michael) Pullins in Mt. Gilead, and Pamela Jo (William) Harper in Litchfield; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Danielle) Harper in Cleveland Heights, and Dr. Bethany Harper (Dr. Adam Deardorff) in Yellow Springs.

Marge was the eldest of six siblings, Rodney (Mary) Worden, deceased October 14, 2011, Glen Worden, deceased June 2, 1958, Joan (Jim, deceased October 30, 2015) Stemen, Judy (Sam) Eichhorn, all of Bucyrus, Ken (Pearl) Graf, deceased July 6, 2000, Galion, and James and Bonnie Worden, Worthington. She also enjoyed her many nieces and nephews, five of whom preceded her in death.

Marge loved her husband, family and her nursing career. She was a kind caring person who loved being with family and friends, especially “The Group” of sixty years that included Dolores and Bob Sweney, Belle and Don Shumaker, and Esther and Rollie Wilson. She and her husband, Howard loved spending the winters with many friends in Lake Panasoffkee, Florida. She also enjoyed prayerfully filling and sending boxes to soldiers serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and all over the world. Her ready, sunny smile and friendliness, living her faith and following the Golden Rule will not soon be forgotten.

Friends may call Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 2-7 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland N., Galion where a Lions Club service will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 23 at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Colonel Crawford School Educational Foundation, or the Colonel Crawford Lions Club, North Robinson in care of the funeral home.
