Lowell Arthur Patton, 79, of Ashland, passed away Friday, March 25 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born April 20, 1936, in Hillsboro, Ohio, to Warren A. and Eva (Whitaker) Patton.

Lowell was a graduate of Sullivan High School, Class of 1954, having never missed an alumni reunion in 61 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Pauline Hubler on Aug. 18, 1957.

He was a member of Paradise Hill United Methodist Church. He was also a member and Past Master of Sullivan Masonic Lodge #313, F. & A.M. for over 53 years.

He was a volunteer firefighter for Sullivan and Polk Fire Departments and was a full time firefighter, Captain, and EMT Instructor for the City of Ashland, and was one of Ashland’s first paramedics. He also worked with A & M Fire and Safety Equipment.

Lowell barbered in the Polk Armory and Church Street Barbershop after graduating from Andrews Barber College of Toledo. He was a Scout Master of Troop #1 in Sullivan and was also a member of SCORE, and a mentor to many.

Lowell loved his Allis Chalmers, CA and G tractors. He loved tending to his garden and remodeled houses in his free time. A civic-minded man, he was a 50-year member of Fitchville Grange and was a several-gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pauline Patton; daughters, Cindy Lou (Rick) Hamilton, of Bailey Lakes and Christine Ann Patton-Snyder, of Perrysville; son, Douglas Arthur Patton, of Ashland; six grandchildren, Derrick Hamilton, Cassandra Hamilton, Erin Patton, Austin Patton, William Snyder and AdriAnne Snyder; brother, James (Emma Jean) Patton, of Columbia Station; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Nellie Hale, Frances Hale, Mildred Dotson and Lola Forbes; and four brothers, John and Cecil Hale and Wilgus and Albert Patton.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Ave. A Masonic service will be recited at 8:15 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Paradise Hill United Methodist Church, 1491 Ohio 603, Ashland. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, Sullivan, Ohio.
