Lester Earl Miller, 97, of Mansfield passed away peacefully, at home Friday, June 24, 2016.

The son of Harvey and Grace (Palm) Miller, Lester was born Feb. 15, 1919.

After graduating from Johnsville High School, Lester served in the Army Air Corp. As a sergeant during World War II he was a P38 airplane and engine mechanic. Lester was honorably discharged in 1945.

A beautiful young lady named Adelaide McKeal caught his eye and the pair soon married on Feb. 12, 1944.

Lester worked for Tappan where he worked for over 40 years before retiring.

A lifelong area resident, Lester attended Berean Baptist Church, and was a member of the Richland Roamers Traveling Club and the Tappan Quarter Century Club. He loved woodworking and vacationing with family. Together, Lester and Adelaide traveled across the country. They had been to all 50 states as well as Mexico.

He is survived by his loving wife Adelaide Miller, of Mansfield; children Judith (Charles) Eidt, of Lexington, Jack (Becky) Miller, of Mansfield, and Patricia (Steve) Graham, of Mansfield; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son James Leroy Miller, sisters Evelyn Johnson and Birdella Smith.

The Miller family will receive friends Monday, June 27, 2016 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service celebrating Lester’s life will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Jim Berry will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post #535, of Bellville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Richland Pregnancy Services may be made through the funeral home.
