MANSFIELD: LaVerne Airhart passed away Wednesday morning December 16, 2015 in Mansfield.

She was born August 30, 1920 to Asa & Valeria (Tong) Ellis, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her sister Donna Harris, her brother Asa Wayne Ellis, and long-time companion Edward Gall.

LaVerne moved to Mansfield in 1944. She cared deeply for both the city and its people. She was the owner of The Fantastique Beauty Salon from 1961 to 1984. LaVerne was generous and loyal to her family, friends, and former employees. She possessed a sympathetic and open heart that was accepting of people. She loved cooking and entertaining and surrounding herself with beautiful things.

LaVerne is survived by her son Larry (Sharon) Airhart; her granddaughter Elizabeth Airhart; niece Carin (Kip) Pierson, Iris (Mike) Binder, and Jannie (Dave) Sorrenti; and her nephew Andy (Stacy) Ellis; along with grand nieces and grand nephews.

A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 West Cook Road in Mansfield, with Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki officiating. Friends may call the hour before the service and the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church or The Woman’s Fund of the Richland Foundation, and may be made through the funeral home.
