Larry Reid

Larry K. Reid, 82, of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Mansfield Memorial Homes.

Larry was born on December 5, 1936 in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the son of Paul and Gertrude (Noyer) Reid.

Larry was employed for 19 years as a salesman with Brown and Williamson Tobacco, and 13 years with Madison Schools in the maintenance department. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. Larry was funny, hardworking, mindful of others and very appreciative. He loved spending time with friends and family, especially at cookouts. Larry loved being active, in his earlier years he enjoyed playing softball, played basketball until his early 60's and tended to his own yard until he was 75 years old. He loved sports, reading, watching old movies, researching World War II history, and was a music enthusiast. He was a fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. You could always count on Larry for a good conversation when it related to politics as well.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Charlie) Keener; granddaughter, Lauren Keener; a sister, Linda (Bob) Rivers; his brother, Rodney (Lydia) Reid; nephews, Tim and Bill; and his nieces, Paula and Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Beverly J. Reid; sister-in-law, Violet "Vi" Reid; and a brother, Dennis Reid.

Family and friends may visit at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, from 4:00-6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mansfield Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad. Memorial contributions may be made to Mansfield Memorial Homes or Kindred Hospice.
