L. Faye Durtschi, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother passed away at home in La Mesa, CA, on Wednesday morning July 1, 2015.
A long-time Galion resident, Faye moved to CA in 2005 to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Nelson Melchior. Faye passed on to her Heavenly Father with family and her caretaker, Maria Lauko, at her side.
Faye lived and worked in Galion, Ohio, for more than eighty years, having moved to Galion with her family from Clearfield, Kentucky, as a child. She was the daughter of Pearl and Kelly Morris. Faye graduated from Galion High School and was employed at the North Electric Company and United Church Directories, retiring at age seventy-five.
Faye is survived by daughters Randee Euliss of Lancaster, Ohio and Kim Melchior of La Mesa, California; and son Herbert “Chip” Durtschi of Leesburg, Florida. Beloved Granny to: Kelley Halloran, Spencer and Matthew Euliss; Meredith Melchior; Patrick & Nathaniel Durtschi; and was preceded in death by granddaughter and namesake Megan Faye Durtschi. She was also the proud ‘GG’ to ten great-grandchildren: Tristan, Cade & Ryder Halloran; Kyle Euliss; Peyton, Adyson Faye, Rhyan & Cayson Euliss; Hazel Faye Durtschi; and AnneDouglas Durtschi.
Faye was a member of the First United Church of Christ; member and president of the Galion Emblem Club in 1974-75, and enjoyed many years as a member of the Order of Eastern Stars. In her retirement, she enjoyed many meals and coffee with friends at “Millie’s Diner” in uptown Galion.
Friends may call Friday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.
