Joseph E. Roelle

Joseph E. Roelle, 85 of Galion passed away Monday evening, Sept. 26, 2016 at Signature HealthCare in Galion.

Born Dec. 7, 1930 in Galion, he was the son of John and Margaret (McCartney) Roelle. He married Velma (LaRue) Roelle on Feb. 17, 1951 and she preceded him on March 17, 2015.

He was a graduate of Galion High School in 1949 and attended the Gospel Baptist Church. Joe was a Mason rising to a 32nd degree Mason. He worked as a machinist at various businesses in Galion and retired from Fisher Service in Mansfield. Joe also owned and operated Joe’s Machine Shop next to his home in rural Galion.

He was an original “Mr. Fix it “and anything broken brought to him was considered a personal challenge until repaired. Joe was a highly competent machinist and lived to create, especially for the farming community.

He is survived by children Thomas (Alda) Roelle, of Galion, Joseph L. (Kathy) Roelle, of Shiloh, John (Karen) Roelle, of Tucson, Arizona, and Robert Roelle, of Cleveland; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brothers Fred Roelle and Dick Roelle, both of Galion and sister Marie Johnson, of Galion. 

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by an infant sister.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 with Pastor Paul Walter officiating. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer Association in care of the funeral home.
