John S. White

John S. White, born on Mother’s Day, 1944 in Columbus to John and Ethel (Collette) White.

John passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 at Signature Health Care, Galion.

John has lived in the area since 1957 coming from Loudonville. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ and graduated from Galion High School in 1964. John had worked at PPG Industries, Works #26, Crestline as a relief man and inspector.

He enjoyed recycling, mowing yards and hauling carpet. One of John’s favorite sayings was, “I’ll give you a $1,000 for a wooden nickel” and enjoyed delivering the Morrow County Shoppers Compass.

John is survived by his brothers; Robert G. White, Shacklefords, VA, Richard E. White, Galion, his sister; Nancy L. and Paul Heimlich, Galion, his nieces; Julie Narzisi, Tara Pish, Joanne Bosh, his nephews; John P. Heimlich, Robert W. White, great nieces and great nephews.

Friends may call on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to  1 p.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, where memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., with Pastor Darrin Harvey officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
