John "Bud" Luers

John “Bud” Luers, 79, of Mansfield passed away unexpectedly September 28, 2014 at MedCentral Health System.

John was born March 29, 1935 in Cincinnati to Florentine and Nell Koenig Luers. He retired from General Motors Tool & Die after 34 1/2 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Northern Nut Growers Association, and Mansfield Elks, and past president of Ohio Nut Growers Association, . Bud enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, working in his nut orchard, and summer camping trips. Bud and Marilyn spent the past 25 years wintering in Texas. Bud enjoyed fishing and socializing with the winter Texans.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn; children Susan (Joe) Crill, John (Ann) Luers, Michael (Mary) Luers, Sandy Luers, Tam (Vince) Fanello, Patricia (Kevin Gray) Baron, Doug (Paula) Luers; grandchildren James (Jill) Jarvis, Caree (Chris) Bash, Mandee, and Jacob Luers, Jeremy (Ann) and Ron (Angela) Bise, Tyler (Holly) and Brandon Luers, Katelyn, Tori and Paul John Baron, Natalie, Maria and Julia Fanello, Nick and Layne Henwood; great-grandchildren Jameson and Jace Jarvis, Addy and Avik Bash, Tucker Luers, Alexis, Emalee, Natalia, Olivia and Meredith Bise; sister Jane (Frank) Brinkman, brother Jim (Tara) Luers; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by granddaughter Anna Fanello.

Friends may call at Herlihy-Chambers Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West, Wednesday from 4 – 8 p.m. with a vigil service at 4pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jeremy Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation for Education, Ronald McDonald House, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
