John Barker

John B. Barker, 54, of Galion passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Cleveland Clinic after an extended illness.

He was born January 19, 1961 in Mansfield, and was the son of Richard and Ruby (Preston) Barker.  John married “His beautiful, blushing bride” Melissa Jenkins on March 30, 2013 and she survives.

He worked as an installer in telecommunications and was a member of Trackside in Galion which he owned from 2006 to 2014.  John was also a member of the VFW Post 4329, American Legion Scarbrough Post 243and AMVETS Post 30 all of Galion.  He enjoyed buying and rebuilding old cars, movies and taking his children fishing at Clearfork Lake.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by children, Joshua (Melissa) Kent of Wisconsin, Erika Eastman of Galion, Liz (Brian) Wozniak of Crestline, Johnathon Barker of Oregon, Kayla (Nathaniel) Shifley of Galion, Kaity Jenkins of Bucyrus and Tommy Lewis of Galion; grandchildren, Jacob and Hunter Kent, Faith and Jacob Eutsey, Forrest Wozniak and Grayson Shifley; brother, George (Dawn) Barker of Calif.; sisters, Genitta Barker of Galion, Teresa (Terry) Baldwin of Galion and Vickie (Sal) Furranto of California.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Richard Barker.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.  A funeral service will be held at Galion First Church of the Nazarene 777 Fairview Ave. Galion 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015 with Pastor Dr. Rick McCartney officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery
