John B. Garrison

John B. Garrison, 77, of Mansfield, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 at Kenton Rehab, Kenton, after a short illness.

John was born in New Philadelphia on Aug. 12, 1939 to the late John and Carmen (Brooks) Garrison. He married Shirley Kane in July 10, 2002 in and she survives him.

John graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1958 where he was a spectacular athlete. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. John retired from Galion Amco as a machinist and had previously worked at Hi-Stat in Lexington and Spherion in Mansfield. He was an avid fisherman and Ohio State fan.

In addition to his wife Shirley, John is survived by his two children, Chester Dean and Kathy Garrison, of Upper Sandusky, and Connie and Jeffrey LaMont, of Kenton, nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; his brother, Beryl and Sandy Garrison, Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 6 year old daughter, Brenda Lee Garrison and his brother, Jack Garrison.

Friends may call Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline. Military honors will be given at the graveside by the U.S. Marine Corps and Galion/Crestline Veterans Military Funeral Detail.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice in care of the funeral home.
