Janice Marlene Bruce, 87, of Butler peacefully passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 from Colonial Manor Health Care Center in Loudonville.
She was born Dec. 21, 1928 to parents Leo and Clara (Shafer) Bemiller in Butler. She was a graduate of Butler High School with the class of 1945 then attended business school. On Feb. 17, 1950 she married Robert Gene Bruce and together they raised three daughters.
Janice was a group leader for Cooper Energy, where she worked for over 18 years until her retirement. In spare time, she was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf. But above all, Janice cherished spending time with her family. Everyone will miss her excellent kitchen skills and home-cooked meals.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Bob Bruce, of Butler; children and spouses: Cindy and Dave Parlet, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gayle and Steven Lakes, of Cincinnati, and Kay and Ed Routh of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; along with extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, June Peters.
The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home (81 Mill Road) where a memorial service honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m. Pastor Ken Kinley will officiate and urn burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery in Butler.
Contributions in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association may be made at her services.
