Janet Ellen (Carr) Hager, closed her eyes here on earth and opened them again on Heaven’s shore, Friday, April 1st, 2016.
She was born August 22, 1933 in Fredericksburg, Ohio to Ernest and Neva (Poulson) Carr, and graduated from Perrysville High School in 1951.
Janet was a gracious and lovely lady, an excellent cook, and a meticulous gardener. A lover of the outdoors, she appreciated even the smallest wonders of creation. Also a history buff, she was among the very first in the dirt and dust of the “dig” at Oak Hill Cottage when that renovation began.
She retired from Therm-O-Disc in 1989, where she developed many life long friendships.
Janet loved her Cook Road Baptist Church family dearly, and served the Lord faithfully in AWANA Chums. Despite being confined to a wheel chair, Janet also managed the church library until she was no longer physically able to do so.
She leaves to cherish her memory: sons Robert Hager and Mark (Linda) Hager of Mansfield. Grandchildren: Jared (Charla) Hager and Abigail Hager of Woodstock Georgia, Danielle Hager of Columbus. Great Grandchildren Olivia and Liam Hager, Zealand and Harlow Perry. Sister-in-law Marilyn Carr. Nieces and nephews: Steve (Jamie) Carr of Michigan, Doug Carr of Florida, Ellen Carr of Mansfield and Carole McKinney of Mansfield. True friends: Ruth Layfield, Winnie Barnett, Jean Kudika, Penny Hill; and also James Allen Hager.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, son David Hager, and brother Jack Carr.
A memorial service celebrating Janet’s life will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:15 a.m., at the Cook Road Baptist Church, 54 East Cook Road in Mansfield, with Pastor Jack Hackworth officiating. Family and friends will gather prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. Interment was in Greenlawn Union Cemetery in Perrsville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Janet’s memory may be made to the AWANA Program of Cook Road Baptist Church. Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, ltd, is handling the arrangements.
