James J Fields, 65, formerly of Mansfield and now living in New Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 1, 2014.
James was born on January 14, 1949, in Mansfield, to Lowell and Gladys (Russell) Fields. He worked numerous years for Westinghouse before leaving due to a back injury. He got saved and baptized on October 16, 1988. James biggest love was spending time with his grandchildren. He was also a fan of all sports, especially Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, and all OSU sports. He was a member of The Sons of Italy for many years, and spent many hours shooting pool and playing cards in his youth.
He is survived by the love of his life for over 30 years, Susan Hoffman; three children, Carol Fields (Dave Gardner), Donna (Tim) McCabe, and Jim Lee Fields, all of Mansfield; seven grandchildren, Curtis Hermann Jr, Joseph Hermann, Brandi McCabe, Taylor McCabe, Morgan Fields, Brandon Fields, and Michael Fields; seven great-grandchildren, Justus, Faith, Mason, Dai`Vien, Frederick Jr, Jay`Mere, and Elise; one half-sister, Phyllis Smith of Ontario; and his ex-wife of 18 years and very dear friend, Judy Fields.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Kurtz officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
