James E. “JC” Campbell, 83, of Mansfield, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014.
James was born on July 1, 1931 in New Lexington, OH to Virgil A. and Ethel G. (Cunningham) Campbell. He grew up in Loudonville and on January 16, 1951 enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Real Life Community Church and a member of VFW Post 3494. James enjoyed working on his rental properties, woodworking, and tinkering with clocks.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Kruso) Campbell; his son, Steve (Debbie) Campbell of Lexington; his step-daughter, Deb (Danny) Litteral of Mansfield; two grandchildren, Stephanie and Carter; two step-granddaughters, Stephanie and Tiffanie; five great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Joanne Price of TX; and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Bob Campbell, Jack Campbell, and John Campbell.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Barth officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery with full military honors being performed by the Richland Co. Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
