BELLVILLE: Hurley P. Isbel, 89, of Bellville passed away Sunday afternoon, March 5, 2015 in Ohio Health MedCentral Mansfield Hospital.
The son of Hugh and Effie (Bailey) Isbel, Hurley was born February 9, 1926 in Fordtown, Tennessee. From 1944-1946, Hurley served in the Navy during WWII as a Fireman First Class. In 1947 he moved from Tennessee to Lexington, and on June 8, 1951 he married Katherine (Miihlbach) Isbel.
A truck driver, Hurley drove for Pringle Trucking, Duff Truck Lines, and most recently, OK Truck Company. He retired in 1988.
Hurley was a member of the Lexington Grace Brethren Church where for 26 years served as youth director, and was also head usher. Hurley was a Grace Christian school board member.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and both flower and vegetable gardening. Hurley loved to bird watch, his favorites were blue birds.
He is survived by his daughter Helen (Robert) Reed of Lexington; grandchildren Eric (Stacey) Isbel, Linda (Kenny) Hootman, Ryan Reed, Terry (Brianne) Reed; great grandchildren Wyatt and Garrett Isbel, Chloe Hootman, Jade, Mason, and Jasper Reed; sisters Pearl Psimer, Betty Depue, and Iva Cecil; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Katherine Isbel, son Hurley “Ray” Isbel, two brothers and three sisters.
The family will receive friends Thursday April 9, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 7 p.m. The Rev. Matthew Rupple will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation may be made through the funeral home.
