Hubert “Bucky” Buckner, 84, formerly of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015, following a lengthy illness.
Bucky was born on September 13, 1930, in Wesleyville, Kentucky, to Warnie and Nannie (Cheeks) Buckner. He retired in 1989 from Westinghouse after over 41 years of service. He also worked at City Furniture. Bucky enjoyed playing guitar and sang in several country music bands for over 30 years. He was a member of Mansfield Moose Lodge, Eagles, Amvets, and VFW Post #3494. He enjoyed feeding and watching birds and squirrels at his former Mifflin Lake residence, and also enjoyed visiting with friends and family.
He is survived by one daughter, Dottie (Denny) Campbell of Loudonville; two grandchildren, Eric Campbell and Michelle Lewis; one great-granddaughter, Jenna Lewis; and his special friend, Marie Waldman of Mansfield.
Bucky was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Darrell Buckner; and one sister, Mildred Barker.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 780 Park Ave. West, Mansfield, OH 44906.
