Helen A. (Stier) Moritz, 93, of Mansfield, passed away at her residence, on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014.
Helen was born on Aug. 23, 1921 in Mansfield to John and Elizabeth (Pitz) Stier. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Mansfield Frauen Choir. She married Frank M. Moritz on January 27, 1940 and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2001. Helen worked at Westinghouse and also worked with her husband on their farm. She enjoyed mowing her yard until she was 91 years old. She was also an antique collector and dealer. Helen was an artist of all different forms, whether it was her music, flower garden, or designing house plans for her husband, who was a builder.
She is survived by two children, F. Thomas (Carol) Moritz and Nauny Moritz, both of Mansfield; twelve grandchildren, Lisa Burggraf, Beth Karr, Helynn (Rich) Hoffman, Donna (Sid) Hale, Susan Moritz, Margie Dennison, Frank (Michelle) Moritz, Thomas (Martha) Moritz, James (Brooke) Boyd, John (Joni) Boyd, Daniel (Kaitlyn) Boyd, and Jesse Boyd; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julia Lenick of AZ, and Betty Crawford of Mansfield: one sister-in-law, Helen Harmon of Mansfield; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Along with her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Marianna and Donald Karr; great-granddaughter, Maddie Moritz; two grandsons-in-law, Richard Burggraf, Jr. and Scott Dennison; sister, Barbara Hinerman; and brother, John Stier.
Private memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 in Mansfield Cemetery. Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD. is handling the arrangements.
