Harold Powell

Harold E. Powell, 60, of Marion passed away on Thursday June 11, 2015 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus following a 10 year illness. Harold was born June 13, 1954 in Crestline to the late Harold L. Powell and Snobilee (Middleton) Swartz. He was married Jan. 27, 1973 to Sharon (Rowe) Powell who survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Betty Sue Hill and Judy Eggelston.

Harold is also survived by children Stacey (Hogan) Taylor, Port Clinton; Kelly (Kevin) Schafer, rural Crestline; Tony (Jessica) Powell of Ontario; 5 grandchildren Austin Adams, Gage Taylor, Nick Adams, Owen Adams, and Addison Schafer; brothers Bishop Ted Thomas, Bucyrus; Chuck Powell of Florida; Bill Powell of Galion; Bob Powell, Galion; John Powell of Bucyrus; and Tom Powell of Galion; one sister Gina Powell of Galion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold retired from the Galion Police Dept. as Captain after 25 years due to failing health. He attended both Bucyrus High School and North Central College. Harold served in the U.S. Army Military Police following High School. During his school years, Harold was an outstanding athlete in track and football. He was a member of the F.O.P. and enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing, boating, hunting, playing the drums, and most importantly he loved his grandchildren. Harold attended the Grace Point Church in Galion.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday June 20, 2015 at noon in the Grace Point Church, 683 Portland Way N. Galion, with Pastor Paul Walter officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family suggest memorials be made to the Kirkpatrick Food Pantry and expressions of Sympathy can be left at munzpirnstill.com.
