Greg A. Melching, 61, of Mansfield, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014, following a battle with cancer.

Greg was born on June 26, 1953, in Mansfield, to William C. and Venice (Penrod) Melching.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his grandchildren.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, baseball, and the Miami Dolphins.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Mapes) Melching; one daughter, Autumn Melching, and her significant other, Donald Holland Jr. of Columbus; two grandchildren, Donovan Scott and Daylin Scott; two brothers, Burke (Sharon) Melching of Shelby and Brian Tackett of Columbus; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Mapes of Mansfield; numerous step-brothers and step-sisters; and a host of family and friends.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East (St. Rt. 430E), Mansfield.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at the funeral home with Greg’s brother-in-law, Rev. Larry Thompson, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greg and Debbie Melching Fund, in care of Richland Bank.
