BELLVILLE: George Schaefer passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 16, 2014 in his Bellville home suddenly with his wife by his side. He was 71.

He was born Aug. 9, 1943 in Mansfield to parents Richard & Rosemary Schaefer.

He is survived by his wife Teri Schaefer of Bellville, whom he married June 15, 1963; two daughters and sons-in-law: Paula & Herb Sapp, and Kathy & Craig Shortridge; grandchildren: Arminda Sapp, Joshua Schaefer, Rodney Sapp, Thomas Schaefer, and Bryce Shortridge; three great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law Owen & Stephanie Schaefer; sister Karen Kanz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by a son Thomas R. Schaefer.

A memorial gathering will be held to remember his life 4-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, 81 Mill Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Richland County Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be made at the funeral home.
