Gary Lee Kimes

Gary Lee Kimes, 67, a longtime resident of Ontario, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at his home with his wife, Darlene Sqrow, by his side.

He was born Dec. 23, 1950, in Crestline, Ohio, and graduated from Ontario High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Gary loved to work in his garden and was a wonderful cook.

He was an avid hunter. Gary was his own person and never met a stranger. He had a big heart and loved to make people laugh. He showed his strength in every challenge throughout his life.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, he is survived by his children, Robin Taylor, of Pennsylvania, Scott Kimes, of Texas, Tony, Nick and Andy Kimes, all of Ohio; sisters, Jackie Tawse, of Pennsylvania, and Brenda Fraley, of Ohio; brother, Bill (Jan) Kimes, of North Carolina; numerous grandchildren; many friends; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chase Covey Kimes; and his parents, William A. and Dixie L. (Lacey) Kimes.

A memorial service conducted by Rev. Terry Garrett will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Mansfield First Assembly of God, 1000 McPherson St., Mansfield. The family requests memorial contributions be made in care of the funeral home for the family.
