Ernest Thacker Jr.

Ernest W. “Ernie” Thacker Jr, 64, of Mansfield, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, November 2, 2015.

Ernie was born on June 25, 1951, in Vanceburg, KY, to Rev. Ernest W. and Beatrice V. (Bloomfield) Thacker. He was a 1969 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Jackson, KY. He married Janet Steiner on November 18, 2004, and she survives. Ernie loved the Lord and attended Faith Chapel CCCU. He loved his wife, family and friends, and will be greatly missed. He enjoyed ferris wheel rides with his wife, classic cars, Nascar, and football, but his greatest pride was his grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Janet, and his father, Rev. Ernest Thacker, he is survived by eight children, Lisa (Chris) Campbell of WV, Kimberly (David) Callahan of TN, Nicole Thacker of FL, Chris (Trish) Thacker of TN, Jonathan Thacker of TN, Rob Steiner of NY, Ryan (Melody) Steiner of WA, and Ben Steiner of ME; sixteen grandchildren; four siblings, Diane (John) Bevan of England, Lois (Darrell) Bellomy of TN, Kaye (Larry) Frazier of TN, and Myron (Diane) Thacker of OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernie was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Thacker; granddaughter Layla Thacker; and brothers, Roger Thacker and Michael Thacker.

Calling hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD., 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the funeral home with Pastors Bruce Copley and Keith Grove officiating.
