Elsie I. Pavelec

Elsie I. Pavelec, 92, of Galion, died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Magnolia Terrace, in Galion, after a long battle with dementia and time.

Elsie was born in Livingston, MT on November 22, 1924 to the late Elmer C. and Ethel L. (Conners) Ferguson. She married John J. Pavelec on December 23, 1942 and he preceded her in death on April 23, 1982.

Elsie was a charter member of the greatest generation, raised during the Depression and raising her family at home while her husband fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Elsie moved from Chicago, IL to Galion in 1994. She was a member of the Positive Christian Singles. Elsie volunteered at the Galion Community Hospital for fifteen years. She loved dogs, enjoyed making pie and was a great cook of delicious unhealthy Czech dishes. She was tireless in her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, John and Susan Pavelec, Holly, MI, her daughter, Pamela and Thomas Fellner, Galion, eight grandchildren, Jeffrey and Debbie Pavelec, Adam Pavelec, Michael and Geene Pavelec, Jennifer Pavelec, Sandra and Emile Abouhassan, Julie and Scott Austin, Lucas and Larrissa Cali, John and Christina Cali, nine great-grandchildren, Gabriella Abouhassan, John Abouhassan, Samantha Abouhassan, Dominic Austin, Savannah Austin, Brianna Pavelec, Torren Cali, Kieron Cali and Kaelan Cali.

In addition to her husband, Elsie is preceded in death by her son, Michael Pavelec and identical twin brothers, Elvin and Elmer Ferguson. 

Friends may call Friday, August 18, 2017 from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 19 at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Pastor Paul Walter officiating. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
